George Russell takes pole position
George Russell secures pole position with a time of 1:32.312 and will start from the front row alongside Carlos Sainz.
During the first part of qualifying, the track recorded a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. In this initial phase, there was an intense battle between Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Max Verstappen's Red Bull. All drivers were separated by less than a tenth of a second, making the fight to advance extremely close.
At this stage, Zhou surprised by qualifying for Q2 with his Sauber, achieving this milestone for the first time since the Silverstone Grand Prix. On the other hand, Checo Pérez, Alonso, Albon, Bottas and Stroll were eliminated. Once again, Checo failed to find a good rhythm with his Red Bull, while Aston Martin continues to face serious problems, a trend that has characterized its performance throughout the season.
In the second part of qualifying, the track temperature began to drop, reaching 13.9 degrees Celsius. In the last minutes of this phase, Franco Colapinto hit the wall, destroying his car and leaving him out of the session. The lap he was completing was impressive and practically guaranteed him a place in the last part of the classification.
It is important to highlight that, after the multiple incidents suffered by the Williams team in the Brazilian Grand Prix, the team finds itself with limited resources and few spare parts available. This new blow further complicates the situation, leaving them in a critical position for the rest of the weekend and the season.
In this part Ocon, Magnussen, Zhou, Colapinto and Lawson are eliminated.
By the end of qualifying, the track temperature had already dropped to 13 degrees Celsius. Despite starting from the last position and with almost no time to complete his lap, George Russell took pole position and will start from the front row alongside Carlos Sainz.
In the second row, Pierre Gasly surprises with his Alpine, who achieved an incredible performance, setting a spectacular last lap that allowed him to place himself in this position, along with Charles Leclerc.
In the third row, there will be Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, the two drivers fighting for the drivers' championship. The fourth row will be occupied by Yuki Tsunoda and Oscar Piastri, while the fifth row will be Nico Hülkenberg and Lewis Hamilton.
