Mexican GP : Russell leads the start of the weekend
George Russell leads the timesheets with a fast lap of 1:17.9, closely followed by Carlos Sainz in second position. Yuki Tsunoda completes the top three, showing a solid performance in this first contact with the circuit.
Mercedes is looking to redeem itself after a difficult weekend at the Austin, Texas Grand Prix, and what was shown in this first session suggests that they could put that setback behind them. Ferrari maintains its good performance, while Visa Chas App Racing Bulls surprises with Yuki Tsunoda positioning himself as the third fastest driver.
On the other hand, Red Bull and McLaren do not look so strong at the start of the weekend. Max Verstappen has expressed significant problems with the power unit of his car, which represents a major concern, since power is a key factor on this circuit. In the case of McLaren, Oscar Piastri also did not feel comfortable with his car throughout the session, which could complicate his aspirations for the rest of the weekend.
The session was marked by two red flags. The first occurred a few minutes before the start due to a loose piece on the track, which forced the activity to be temporarily stopped to guarantee the safety of the drivers.
The second interruption occurred after 30 minutes, after an accident between Alex Albon and Ollie Bearman. The Williams driver touches the young man from Ferrari. Causing Albon's car to end up against the wall with significant damage.
